After I take the last drag on my cigarrete, I hear his voice in our native tongue.

I drop the butt on the ground, and grind it out with my toe.

I grit my teeth. I thought time off would've made things easier for me to bring up with him, but it's actually made it harder.
"I think you can sense the irony here... In ten years, we'll both look back on this event and laugh at it, although I don't find it that funny right now."
I say without making eye contact.
