The Formation of Character

[Lady Violet]

"I am not sure what you can do Pyervie, but if you stop by my home or office from time to time, you are bound to learn the everyday behaviors of humans."

I look out into the kitchen

I wonder where Chao and Hikari are. They must be around the house somewhere.

I wonder how Chao is coming along on that speech.

[Zhuge Liang]

I sit up, still a little woozy from my illness.

["Pyervie" Sovietski]

I understand, and if you do not mind I will remain here for awhile." I say. I sit back and sip my soda. "There is only one thing that I truly desire, and that is to learn more about my sister."

[Set]

After a long day of work, I stop by Violet's. Her place is pretty busy for this time of night. Seeing Zhuge here gives me that feeling I have been trying to supress. I ignore it.

"Hello everybody..."

I do not see Hikari or Chao. I wonder where they are.

[Lady Violet]

"I do not know much about your sister, just that she is an enemy of Red Infinity and close with the rebel leader, Bassarov. I am sure that we have a detailed file on her by now, with all the spy work we do in Helsinki."

I turn to see Set.

"Hello, my loyal dragon. And how was your day?"

[Irvine Kinneas]

I walk into a nearby drugstore and buy a pack of ciggaretes, a lighter, a Red Infinity novelty cup, and a gallon of milk. I pop out a cig, after opening the package and I light it. While waiting for the tobbacco to be burnt, I fill my cup with milk. After the ciggarete is lit for a couple seconds I toss it in the milk. I then drink the milk, leaving the ciggarete inside the cup and throwing the cup away.

That was refreshing.

[Set]

"Another fulfilling day serving Red Infinity, nothing out of the ordinary to report..."

I look around the living room.

"A pleasure to see you here, Zhuge, Pyervie. It's rare that I get to see operatives from other departments."

["Pyervie" Sovietski]

"I'm sure... But that's not what I mean... My father died in the battle against Louhi, and my mother was killed in a plane crash. She is the only family I have left. My master, Lord Kolov will order her killed and I will do it, but I hope she sees the light and comes back home to our master."

[Lady Violet]

"Zhuge fell ill and Pyervie came here to heal him. Though I do delight in the time I get to spend with my operatives after working hours. I never get any leisure time at all."

I turn to Pyervie.

"I think she is her own master now."

[Zhuge Liang]

I nod politely at Set.

"The pleasure is mine. Forgive me, I do not believe it would be wise for me to stand and greet you, as is proper."

["Pyervie" Sovietski]

"Not by right... We are not human, we are not people. We are property, in this case the property of Lord Kolov. She is in defiance of all that is right."

[Set]

I think of something not so nice to say, but decide to keep it to myself. It would not be appropriate to get territorial in such company.

"Ah... It is... nothing to worry about, Zhuge. I understand your condition."

[Lady Violet]

"I am not sure how to comfort you, Pyervie. I am sure it seems wrong that she left, but since she was given the capacity to will her behaviors, she did perhaps what came naturaly at the time."

I think of his references of Kolov as lord.

"No one should be the slave of another."

["Pyervie" Sovietski]

"I said I was born to serve. You were born to lead. These are our lots in life. We must accept them." I sigh. This communist has no sense of perspective.

"It's funny, I have a hard time remembering my sister. We rarely talked."

[Lady Violet]

"You are correct. I was created to lead, just as Chao there in the other room was also created to lead. But I have free will. I could choose to deny this destiny if I found something I loved more than politics. Since that is unimaginable, I continue on this prescribed path."

It is so hard to talk to these elitists.

"Maybe you could meet with your sister...just to talk."
