You know, we all have our own reasons for being here. A lot of people assume that since I'm a bounty hunter, I'm here as some kind of hired soldier. Heheh... they'll never know the half of it. I like to let them think that I have no personal connection to this war. You know, you'll be the first person I tell this to. I'm not receiving a dime from this one. I have........ other reasons.

Ivan picks up his fork and starts eating the meal.

It's funny, how something as little as a good meal can make you feel so much better. It's the little pleasures that we need. This tastes good, and it makes us feel really good right now, but once we've eaten it all, what are we left with? The memory of something that tasted really good. You know, nothing good is permanent. Every good thing has an end. Food is good, but you can't eat it twice. Alcohol is good, but it doesn't make the pain go away forever. If you don't mind me saying so, sex is good, but that has an end. But most of all life is good. And every life has an ending at some point. Even these people who live beyond age. Someone will get the best of them eventually. Every good thing has an end. My point? It's not that we should be bummed out because everything has an end. It's that we should enjoy the little things, because everything is a "little thing." Hmmm.... I hope I haven't gone rambling.

I spring out of bed and run witb Linnea back to Bassarov's apartment

I slowly rise back to wakeness... And notice that I have once again overslept... I notice I have a text message, so as soon as I am ready I go over to Bassarov's apartment.

Linnea hugged his arm as they stood there at the meeting. "I want to stay anywhere that Garret is."

i smile and kiss her on the lips passionately, pulling apart only to get our breath back. kaze..., there are more important things to do first..... i nuzzle her and kiss her again.

"You don't need to do anything you don't feel comfortable with. I just thought that the experience would challenge you in a new direction. Are you still interested in going with Lysander? Anyway, we can still build our party thanks to telepotation booths, but we have always been about coalitions and harnessing the power of the less politically sophisticated."

He turns to Garret

"Sure you and Linnea can stay here in Helsinki, as for you Ivan, I assume you will go to whereever the anarchists end up."

"Like what is so important." she says in between kissing his jaw and nibbling on his ear.

I knock on Bassarov's door and enter. "Valodya, I'm staying wherever you stay." I say tactlessly. I had meant to be a little less blunt, but oh well...

"I will return you to your world if you do me a favor. You will find out more about the ones named Satsujin and Void. Iwill visit you again, and if you have not found out the required information, I will imprison you here forever."

He says a chant, then teleports them to Iowa. Once this is done, he disappates into mist, returning to his own mysterious home.

Devin looks at her slowly.

"That is just the thing. I do not find pleasure in pain. Nor do I find pleasure without pain. Without pain, there is emptiness. With pain, I have something to hold on to."

He remains silent for a time.
