"It is an endless and tiresome battle for survival. I would like to take a moment for myself, but fear the whole rebel movement hinges on me." Bassarov runs his hand through his hair in frustration.
"It is unhealthy. The rebel movement can not depend on one man to keep it together. But what can be changed? The rebels need direction."

"This is a nice hotel room. It has nice decorations." I say to the prostitute. I sit on the bed and bounce a little to test it out.
"You're a cute girl. Is that meathead back there your man?"

"The rebels probaly want the same thing that I do, what is best for their loved ones. Not everyone has the direction to work indipendantly, that's why some people are born leaders." I say, trying to help him. He believes in equality, I don't. I don't believe anymore that any one person is inherantly more important than any one other, but I believe that no one is equal, everyone is different.

Ivan watches Simona leave. He can't help but feel a little responsible.
"Excuse me Linnea," says Ivan. Ivan follows Simona back to her room.
"I'm sorry if I've upset you, but you have changed. You used to be so religious and full of life. You used to have the purest compassion. I can still see that side of you, but it's as if you're holding it in, keeping us at distance. I am not by any means a preacher and I'm not judging you, but if you want, later I am going to visit a church and you're welcome to come along."

"It is frustrating. I am passionate about politics but the same zeal burns me out. It makes me feel used up at times when things look impossible. I have been depressed lately...I think. Which is why I have been less affectionate." Bassarov explains. He doesn't want Zero to start thinking that he doesn't care about her, but lately he has felt numb and a longing to be alone.
He has felt more depressed than what he lets people know. And how could he be happy? When so much of his life is reliant on politics and he is so driven by ideals, what can a person do when time and time again the political reality of the world rejects him?

"Then take a break from politics. I mean it doesn't matter to Red Infinity if you sit around for a few weeks, or spread around information to the masses. They will keep doing their thing. And people work their best when they are 'well rested.'"

"I would enjoy going to church with you, Ivan. It may help me. But right now I need to find my own way. I will figure things out."
I get up off my bed and put on an oatmeal colored cardigan sweater. I always dress plainly.
"We should invite Linnea to go along as well. She strikes me as the religious type. I don't know why, she just does."
I am not aware that Linnea is actually part angel. I leave my room and walk back to the Kitchen.
"Linnea, would you like to attend church with us?"

"I can't. I just can't." Bassarov folds his hands and closes his eyes for a moment. He considers taking time off, but knows that he can not afford to at this time. "Once I get the rebels reorganized I will see about taking some time off of politics." This is a lie. He has no intention of taking time off. Only death will sever him from his responsibility to end the corrupt Red Infinity regime.

"Hmm?" Linnea looked up. "Church? Oh I would love to!" She smiled brightly again, these things really did make her happy.

"We're just living together." Cynthia says, sitting down on the bed. "I don't know if I'd call these decorations 'nice', but for what I'm getting this room for, they're not bad."

"This will be great, so long as the League of the Godless doesn't show up."
I smile and turn to Ivan.
"Lead us to your church. And out of curiousity, what denomination of church is it?"

I sigh. I then wrap my arm around his shoulder and guide his head down to mine. "I'm sure you know what's best... But you do need to rest, even if it's just one night at a time." Frankly I am surprised he doesn't have an ulcer, or drink, or smoke. I can feel his tension even without using telepathy, it is that strong. Hopefully there is some way I can confort him, with or without making love, and somehow help him and Misha to reconsile their differences and accept each other once again... I won't be happy until Bassarov is happy, and it appears that it will be a while yet...

Linnea's smile vanished and her face drained of color at the sound of the Leage of the Godless, but Linnea quickly covered it up.

"I will Zero, once I meet with Mischa and some of the other rebels I will call it a night." He puts his hand on her arm. His back is sore with stress over reorganizing the rebels. "Would you mind rubbing my back?"

"Certainly." I say, and stand up. I walk behind him and begin to massage his shoulders. I am skilled at this form of massage, as it is useful in preperation for hand-to-hand combat. Soon my firm but gentle touch has the desired effect. "Please do me at least this much of a favor... Take this weekend off. Call it preperation for my birthday if you want, but for once I want you to think about something other than politics. IT would do you a lot of good."
