"Ah, do not worry madmoiselle, ma soeur Collette is sharing ze room with me. Also, many members of La Resistance use it as a temporary planning ground, so people are constantly in and out."

I roll my eyes. Who is this girl? What a goody goody. "Oh Cossette you are so cute and naive. I see nothing wrong with this. I mean, heavens, he isn't taking us here for a threesome or something."

Cosette blushes.
"No I did not zink he would...I only. Gah. I waz not brought up to go to a mans apartment unchapperoned. It iz not proper iz all. But if zis is for all and your sizter will be zere. I see no problem."
Cosette rubs her arm a bit. She looks at Phillippe with small sadness in her eyes.

"It is no problem, really, it was a valid concern, Madmoiselle Cosette. Come, I shall introduce you to ma soeur and zen I shall prepare a most delicious feast!"
I lead the women to my apartment, concientiously holding the door open for them to enter.

Oooh she's good. Playing the innocent card. Guys love those innocent pure virginal girls. Hmm, well, I know her tricks.
"Ah, maybe you are right. It is improper. What would people think?" I say in feigned concern.
"I will call my sister Paris and she can be my chaperone."
I call Paris and leave a message on her voice mail to come here. Hopefully that will be hours later. I enter the apartment with the two of them and feel like this night is going down the gutter.
If nothing else I can do what I did to Lulu.
Hire someone to kill this Cosette.

"Well Phillippe it seems Anna also shares ze concerns I 'ave. And actually since it is so blatantly obvious that Anna doez not wish me to be here per'aps I should go. I will not be placated because she wishes to show off for you. If I am not wanted I am not wanted. I do not wish to play games any longer."
Cosette does not want to be made uncomfortable any longer. She worked too hard to get into a place in her life for comfortable and this was not it. So the pregnant dog wanted to make her seem naive. Fine. She would let her have her fun.
"I will go and find people who take zis more seriously. I do not wish to play ze dating game. I wished to learn about ze organization and ze people. When Anna here grows up. Come find me Phillippe"
She walks to the door.

"Cosette! Zat is not true, I am sure Madmoiselle Anna meant no 'arm! Come, we must all be agitated over ze attacks, zere is no reason to take it out on each other!"

I start to cry.
"I just get so lonely and never see Lysander. And...and Phillipe was so nice to me...no one has ever been that nice to me. They all think I am a capitalist pregnant dog...they all think...that! Everyone hates me!...
I sob. Of course the tears are fake.

Cosette had written plays with more depth than Anna.
"It seems Anna iz in a fragile state. I shall go. There is no reason for me to stay any longer tonight. 'ere iz my number Phillippe. I am sure zat Anna needs your attention more than 'aving dinner with us. We shall do zis another time."
Cosette sighs. She did not wish to fool with someone who was the kind of person who lied and manipulated peoples good will to obtain what they wanted. Anna did not belong in La Resistance. She should have joined a dating service instead.

"La Resistance needs you Cosette...oh pleaaaaase don't go. I NEED you. I have no friends. And you are so nice and so pretty I get so jealous. It is so hard when you are alone." I sob.

I am clearly in over my head. A little frantic, I try to figure out which of the ladies I should attend to.
"Madmoiselle Anna, zat is not true, you are a wonderful person! And Madmoiselle Cosette, it is nothing, really, do not worry about it. Come, sit down, I shall prepare a meal and we may forget about all of zis unpleasantness, non?"

"Yes, let's have a peaceful meal. Cosette, I am sorry for that outburst. Let's start over." I smile brightly.

Cosette goes to Anna. Even though she knows Anna is faking she is empathetic.
"From your own actions Anna I 'ave overstepped my boundaries. It seems you and your boyfriend here do not need a third party tonight. I shall wait for your chapperone but as soon as she gets 'ere I shall leave. We will do zis another time."
Cosette sits on the couch and wrings her hands. She did not wish to be here any more.

"Oh... er... we are not dating, Madmoiselle Cosette, 'er boyfriend is a busy young man who I 'ave not 'ad ze occassion to meet. I am sorry zat zere was so much distress involved in all of zis," I say, somewhat awkwardly as I begin bustling around the kitchen and preparing a meal.
"I 'ope we can look beyond zis unpleasantness. I 'ad 'oped we might discuss matters of La Resistance, but I would not be so unkind as to impose such things upon you ladies right now. Ze television is over zere, we 'ave many old French movies, if you would like to watch some while I prepare dinner."

"Come on Cosette, don't be a Sad Sack. Tell us about yourself and your politics. I am very interested and I am sure that Phillipe would love to know as well."
