The Mortal Solution

[Misery]

"I have to get back to work, so later."
I get up and walk back to the ministry of Terror. At least after tonight I will have three days off.

[Mary Warren]

Mary stares at a computer screen filled with what looks like a genetic pattern. It is separated by chromosome, and the nucleic acids are represented with by letters. The page scrolls downward quickly, reflecting off of her glasses.

"Stop."
The page stops abrubtly at Mary's command.

"Monitor, please change line 4234455 in the genetic code of chromosome three. Also, see if you can alter line 234234 without the chromosome disingrating. I have a hunch that might speed the desired effect, and lower non-target casualties, respectively."

"I am going to go check some files on ex-personnel, and have some lunch. Bye," Mary says, smiling.

"I think we did well today. Good job."
She knows it is silly to compliment a computer, but sometimes she feels like Monitor is a real person. It certainly has a personality.

[Soren]

"I don't know anything about Satsujin. I talked to him a couple of times but he was always very secretive. I could help you, but I really don't give a d**n what happens to this world." Soren replies to Peter.

He is still very tired from having that bubble up for so long.

[Peter "The Owl"]

"How could you not care? Your on the world. If it goes, so do you."

[Soren]

"This world stinks and my life isn't much better. But we aren't going to talk about that. What do you want me to do?"

[Freak Boy]

I think I might have him, but I need to know what he looks like, unless I just take the guy I suspect...
I reply mentally to Dr. Murdock.

A teenager......

"Hey Antonio, this may be a bad time but...how old are you?"

"19, why?" he asked, quirking a brow.

[Valodya Bassarov]

Bassarov wakes up and goes to the kitchen. There are many things that he needs to get done, but has been neglecting. For one, the rebels need the kampa. He needs to somehow meet with the Leshay about this, since only a mortal can use the kampa's power.

He is also worried about Freakboy and Andrew. He hasn't heard from either of them in a few days.

[Kaschei]

Kaschei's eyes grow wide when he sees the kampa. "Excelent work Tsubaki, now we must try to figure out how to use this artifact."
He takes the kampa from her and examines it.
"This hardly looks like a weapon at all. I wonder if there is some mistake."

[System One, The Monitor]

"As you wish..." The Monitor hums in an out of tone manner and spins in place like some sort of 3D windows icon. After a moment it laughs and does a flip.

"Code line design reconstructed. Preparing new sample strain. 97% probability of strain being processed as planned. Would you like to view the new code when it is finished?"

[Peter "The Owl"]

Peter frowns, "Nothing... because apparently that's what your good at." Peter shakes his head and turns back to Hope, "I don't think that these guys will be able to tell us anything useful, Hope."

[Mary Warren]

"Of course. E-mail it to the computer in my office. Don't worry, it can handle large files. I know you'll probably have it done quickly, but I'll look at it after lunch. Thank you," Mary states.

She leaves the room, heading to her office.

[System One, The Monitor]

"Bio agent at 23% completion. Estimate eleven minutes, twenty seconds until full generation. I will forward copies of the files to your computer." The Monitor spins once more, and winks out.

[Mary Warren]

Mary sits down at her desk and takes out a brown paper bag, containing a cheese sandwich, an apple, and a bottle of water. She laughs to herself quietly. The scene reminds her of school. The office is impeccably neat, but simple, witha bookshelf in the corner, and a comfortable chair for guests. She turns to her computer, and looks up the file for Peter the Owl.

[Kasumi "The Starling"]

Kasumi sighs, sitting on Cass's bed in her room at L.I.F, knowing her friend was gone, at least for a while. She hoped Cass would be back.. She sits with a pillow in her lap, elbows on the pillow, and chin in her hands.

She knew no one in L.I.F now, and supposed she wasn't actually a member. Nonetheless, Kasumi would speak with whomever was in charged and stay with this strange group of people she was unfamiliar with, with the exception of Cass.

Kasumi did know the name of some hunters, and the new leader of L.I.F, but she wasn't very good with meeting new people.. With another sigh, she stands, placing the pillow on the bed before walking from the room, in search of someone who may explain to her how to actually become a member of L.I.F, and what she was suppose to do.

[Hope98]

"That was a waste of time. Darn it." I clench my fist. I thought the nihilists would have more information.

"Well...what about the LeShay. Are you up to paying them a visit at the Ministry of Terror?"
