"I would like to try to convince the rebels that reform is the best way and maybe if we talk with them, they will be willing to work with us, rather than against us. We all want the same things. I free, peaceful, and just world. Even many in Red Infinity want this, even if they have the wrong methods of establishing it."

"I can try to talk to a couple group leaders. Valodya Bassarov in perticular, his group has been the least meddlesome of the lot. Probaly also Charlotte O'Niell, since the FRA is the most powerful of the remaining self-soverigen nations."

"I wouldn't call the former United States sovereign, but like all of the poorest areas of the world, Red Infinity has fewer political centers there. Maybe I could meet with Charlotte O'neal and set up some sort of relief fund for the starving Americans."

"That's a good idea, but perhaps we should also try to help them to get more for their trade. Not to mention other countries. The Ministry of Trade does give out pretty bad deals... But I'd prefer if you met with Charlotte... For some reason I have a difficult time relating to women."

"I can talk to her. I have no jurisdiction over the economics, I only know that production has been down for the past few years and many government projects are not getting done. Maybe if the finances were handled better, Red Infinity could provide more..."

[Sherman "Sherlock" Holmes]

Holmes wanted to shoot himself at this point. Three days of spying and all he had was Lady Violet getting X-Mas gifts and Iras's father is Lady Violet. Nothing NEAR the money the FRA payed him should buy. And now, all he was hearing was the d**ned peacemakers of Red Infinity.

Holmes was in disguise as an elderly woman. He was hunched over, leaning on a cane and faking a weak ankle. He wore an odd dress and a strange looking hat with a smiling honey bee on the top of it. All in all, it was very convincing and he had managed to fool his new maid; that was a start. But could he get away with it in RI? His current excuse for being on premisis: She's the head of the senior center and is here to meet with one of the Ministers. Which one? She can't remember because her medication makes her bad with names.

So far it was working, but there was no dirt... only two peace talking yahoos who seem to have a clean slate.

"Finances have been a mess since the revolution. After all the economy is almost a creature unto itself, and if you attempt to strangle it everyone suffers. But yes, I'll talk to Bassarov soon, casually. I don't expect to accomplish anything this soon, I just want to get to know him."

"That sounds like a good idea. If I meet with the FRA and you with the socialist rebels, we can at least feel out the rebel movements. There must be some reformists in the mix and those are the ones we want to work with..."

[Blake Derosch]

"Yes. The last thing we need at this point is another revolution." Though a coup couldn't hurt, as long as Lin-Sat's replacement was a just ruler... "But we'll do that tommorow. I've been reading reports from various ministires... Did you know that Erika Faust has been reassigned, her house arrest sentence deferred?"

(Freakboy, I think you should stay at the Siberian camp, I am sure there are people you can post to there if not, I think Red Infinity can find someone)

"Yes I agree, another revolution would do little to help the world's situation. I would hope for elections or at the very least the ousting of Lin-Sat and the rule of Violet Zedong."

"She is a preferable choice, at least for the short term. In the long term however people will have to elect their own leader, and then no one knows what you'll get..."

"That is true, the people are pretty well conditioned to this sort of system, so I imagine that even under democracy we will see moderate and reformist communists for the years to come should elections ever take place and if they were fair and universal. The extremist rebel voice is actually a minority. Most people want stability more than anything, and will go along with whatever seems the most stable."

After my better judgement leaves me, as it often does around Antero, I partake in his game. She passes out soon after I am finished, and I lean up against the wall, panting.

I sit down beside Antero and feel nothing. A flame that has been slowly burning inside of me has finally consumed my soul as I collapse, a pile of ashes, beside Antero.
