Dr. Murdock did not drink any of her water. That is because both glasses contained digitoxin. Not enough to kill Ai An Fei, but enough to paralyze her. She pours the water out over the broken glass as a sort of symbolic sacrifice to the Party, before teleporting into the bathroom to finish the real sacrifice.
She takes out her dagger that she keeps strapped to her ankle.

Fortunately for Freak Boy most people cook with their own portion size in mind, and I eat enormous portions considering my small size. I dish up just shy of a quart of stir fry for him and a pint for myself since I just ate breakfast. "Here you go."

Even taking Freak Boy's 4'11" frame into mind, he still eats like a bird proportionatly. It was funny, but at the same time sad, to watch him eat on a normal day. However, today it would be scary... well, scary in the funny sense/joking sense.
"Thanks, Zero." Freak Boy said, taking a fork and digging in.

Oh, Andrei? He was one of the major revolutionary leaders. He worked with Bassarov. He was kind of the Stalin to Bassarov's Trotsky, but he was there from the beginning. He was rather stoic, and had bad teeth. He was also the first dictator of Red Infinity.

I eat my food more slowly than him. "I hope it's okay, I'm not a very good cook."

Hi Zero. Helene says quietly. Her voice is tense and her face is pale. She is constraning herself from attacking her friends. Being half vampire meant she needed blood and regular food for nurishment. She had been pushing off her thrist for a long time but now it was unbearable. As long as she didn't look at anyone, they'd be okay. How was your day? Eventful, I hope. Small conversation was good. Anything to keep her from thinking about Zero's throat.

Freak Boy paused, a piece of food hanging out of his mouth. He slurped it up and stared at Zero like she was crazy.
"Zero... you're talking to the kid who lived off spam out of the can, with an ocasional slice of bacon for... oh, 5, maybe six years. Your cooking is just fine in my book. By the way, I meant that as a compliment." Freak Boy said, going back to his food.

"Well thanks!" I say, somewhat red-faced. I turn to Helene and can tell that she is thirsting. "Hello, things have been pretty slow for me lately, I'm just glad Freak Boy managed to get out."

"Funny thing about that is I escaped by accident." Freak Boy said with an embarassed grin as he blushed and did an anime sweat drop.

"Oh? Do tell." I say as I take another bite of the stir fry.

"Well, I was in this room that was temperature controlled with little spikes that come out of the floor. So I was on a chair that I had inched over to the door and yanking at the knob. But the room was programmed to go from freezing to boiling.
"There was a small interval in which the temperature was normal and that's when I would yank at the doorknob and try to get it off. Sometimes I'd think I was getting close so I ignored the pain from the burning metal. For 12 hours I did this, blistering up my hands. Finally, I shout a few obscenities and kick at the air to vent... then I end up kicking the doorknob off." he says, even more embarassed.

"Sounds like you did a clever thing by being stupid. All in all it sounds like you got lucky."

Finally after getting around and running a lengthy self-diagnostic to make sure all my fuel systems are working properly I walk out into the metro, and almost immediately bump into a young woman. "Oh, I'm sorry."

"uuuuh... Yeah, pretty much." Freak Boy says hurriedly. He returns to a normal pace of speech. "At least, I was lucky until I decided to try and escape through the sewers... I don't know what I stepped in when I started, and I don't want to know...
"Sorry, forgot we're eating."
