It was during the revolution that she met Valodya Bassarov. She never liked the Trotksyist revolutionary, who glorified the Russian revolution and took advantage of admiring women.
She had many political debates with him over nationalism, feminism, the validity of the Russian revolution and the legitimacy of the Bolshevik ascent to power.
