story: (Sorry this is so long, but I felt inspired) Alister's mother was a demon, and his father was a human. After he was born, he was thrown into a for profit orphanage before the revolution. Ignored throughout most of his childhood, he never really fit in with any of the other children. They shunned him, seldom resorting to outright insults about his race, but that doesn't mean they never happened either. It didn't take him long to realize that he was different from most other children, and began to resent most of them, beginning to understand that he was indeed, far more powerful than them.
When Alister came of age, he didn't just go through puberty like the other children, but felt something far more carnal, and hard to control. He was told his whole life that these were simply hormones, and that he should try to control them to the best of his ability, but on the second night of his curse, he was found pinning a fellow classmate down, claws around her throat, and his eyes seething with lust, and hatred.
After this event, he was expelled from school, now openly ostracized at the orphanage, and to the point where they resorted to throwing him out on the street. He led a dark life on the streets, taking out his anger on the homeless, and prostitutes. After getting a job as a custodian at the local middle school when he lied about his age and forged a fake ID for himself, he was able to afford his own place at a fairly young age. Politically apathetic up until this point, the janitors decide to try and form a union, and Alister witnessed first hand, the open hostility towards workers and any attempt they have at trying to organize themselves. This was the first thing to politically charge him, and after losing his job due to soliciting union material, he became a revolutionary.
He joined the ISP (International Socialist Party) and was an active member until they merged with the 4th Internationale during the revolution. It was during this time when he met Sayuka, who was also in the ISP. They became friends under arms, and helped overthrow the Japanese capitalist government, but he pinned her down one time, and couldn't control himself. He fled in shame immediately afterwards and hasn't heard from her since.
Disillusioned by how the revolution turned out, Alister hides out in the woods somewhere inside Laos, where he begins to get more in touch with his demon side. After wandering around the woods in demon form, he happens upon a cave, that is inhabited by other demons like himself, except they are pure bred. They tell him of the curse, and he begins to understand a little bit more about his parents, that his mother was a demon who raped his father who could have been anyone, and gave birth to him, passing down her curse. He still does not know or understand what happened, and why he doesn't have any relationship with his mother, or even know who she was, until they entrust to him a naginata that has his mother's soul sealed inside of it. A demon slayer by the name of Mikomi had slain her. If the naginata were to ever break, his mother would be set free in a berserker rampage.
After spending so much time with other tigers, and demons, he decides to get back into politics, and into the rebellion. He heads for Helsinki with his mother.
