I am taken back as a man steps of the shadows and approaches me. How did I not notice his presence?
He is handsome and I notice him at once for what he is. He is like me, a vampire. One can always notice another.
I give him a smirk as I reply to his query, "One could ask you the same thing." I don't trust him a bit.
"It seems to me that I should know you, since we have the same blood in our veins, yet I do not. I am wondering who you might be."

"I am Lachek, and I am very, VERY pleased to meet you." Lachek says as he moves closer to the dark beauty. Women are dispensable for the most part to him, but one of his own might come in handy for more than just a fling. Of course she will fall for him, every woman does, what with his charm. He is very conceited and believes that this woman would jump at the chance to be his.
"I don't believe I caught your name" he says as he moves in close and takes in her fragrance.

"That is because I did not give it. You did not answer me. Why have I never heard of 'Lachek' before now?"
He is standing so close to me now. I can feel his eyes boring into me.

"Come now, does that really matter?" He asked. He gazed down into her eyes. "You really should learn better people skills, I was only trying to get to know you."
His eyes had the ability to hypnotize. This girl was as good as his. He leaned in and kissed her neck.

For a moment I start to relax into his kiss. I feel so alone. It is good to feel loved. But I know he does not really love me.
"You think too highly of yourself" I say "Have you forgotten that your hypnotic charms won't work on me? We are, after all both people of the night. You kid yourself if you think that you could have me."

Lachek stops kissing at this and instead sinks his fangs into the girl's neck, causing her to flinch from the pain. He will not be insulted like this, not by some woman.

I scream as I throw him off of me. "You pig! You would bite into me like some common woman!" I lift my hand to feel my neck. As I draw it away I see blood on my fingers. I unsheath my kris from it's hiding place in my sleeve. I will let this Lachek feel its cold bite. I run at him with the curving blade brandished, willing to spill his blood in return for my own.

Lachek smiles at this woman's reaction. Good, he had gotten her angry. As he saw her running toward him, he turned into a moth and quickly flew up into the night sky. He wasn't running away. He was savoring his victory, causing the woman pain and anger. He would keep an eye on this one. She was a challenge, waiting to be conquered.

One moment I am charging at him, ready to cause him pain, the next he disappears and there is a moth in his place. I know it is him and would catch it and crush it if I could, but it flies off before I have a chance. D**n! I think as I lower my weapon and fall to my knees. I was vulnerable again... for the second time that night. I curse under my breath and look up to the sky. My neck is still bleeding, but my anger and sorrow are all that I feel. 'I will not be a plaything', I think. And I won't. The next time that I see Lachek, he will not be able to run away.
Still angry, I walk away. I will find some poor soul to take my anger out on for now, who ever next comes my way.

I didn't want to see Lin-Sat. I had been putting it off for days. But matters would only worsen if I waited. I boarded a plane to Beijing, leaving my duties at the Ministry of Terror behind. I entered our HQs and went up to his office, high at the top of the building.
"Lin-Sat, you asked for me. Well, I have arrived at last. Forgive me, I was busy with other duties."

"You went through a lot of trouble for me, and I thank you very much. I am Bassarov, I was a political prisoner at Red Infinity. I only escaped because of the whims of a very beautiful vampiress. How did you find me and how did such a small girl manage to do so much. You are truly an amazing child," Bassarov said.

I gave my speech about the tragedy of Helsinki. Everyone bought my lies once again. I went to my room and wept. Not for myself, but for the masses who we have betrayed. I heard that Kith was coming to Beijing. Normally, this would brighten my spirit, but I know that Lin-Sat is not pleased with him. I wait outside Lin-Sat's office to hear what he has to say to Kith.

Suzumi nearly fell over from shock, instead slowly slumping down in a sitting position on the ground in disbelief. If she had never stopped to help him, she would have ended up in the Ministry of Terror, and possibly captured, or returning empty handed. "Mr...Bassarov...?" She reverted to her normal form, with her fox tail and ears apparent. "I-I'm Suzumi. You may not remember me, but we met in Feudal Japan, and you told me a little about your revolution. I decided to follow you one day and see what the future was like. I went around your home town, and asked about you. A Red Guard soldier, Sophia Belov, caught me, but she let me go. She was kind to me, and she said that if I got into trouble with the Red Guard, to tell them to send me to her. She told me you were being kept at the Ministry of Terror. I went to the train station, eavesdropped a little, and hopped aboard a train to Moscow. I sprinted around the city, looking for the Ministry of Terror to rescue you, and I stopped to rest, and I bumped into that soldier." Then, pausing for breath, she blushed a little, and continued, with a bowed head. " Thank you, but I don't think I really deserve your praise, Mr. Bassarov. I didn't do very much. I thought you were still in the Ministry of Terror, so you could have died if you were still there." She smiled and glanced up, "I'm glad you're still alive. Do you have any idea of where to go now?"
