Hey I happened to find this site and thought that it sounded incredibly interesting. One thing I'm wondering though, what role does the Kalevala really play in this RP? Is the RP centered around Finland in general or are there just some things here that are based on the Kalevala? You see I'm Finnish so I find this whole thing incredibly intriguing, and I'm just looking for a bit more information.

Some of the gods who work for the government are from Finnish mythology. It has undertones of Finnish mythology, and is something like the Kalevala meets 1984.
If you are Finnish Pleeeeeeeeeaase join!!
Ukko, Lemminkainen, Akka, Vainenmoinen, Ilmarinen, etc. are all characters in this rpg from the Kalevala/Finnish myth.
Most of the role playing takes place in Helsinki, the center of the rebel movement.

Interesting... I will definately consider joining. Though I have to admit that I find large role-plays slightly intimidating, it can be hard to get into them. Are there any characters that you would be needing, anybody Finnish that I could play? I can't do much by way of Finnish speach sadly, I'm part of a minority of Swedish speaking Finns, but I do know the mythology, places, people, culture, etc. Could you help me out with ideas for a character?

Sure, well you could play as a rebel, then I can help you out since Bassarov is the leader of the rebel movement.
Are you a political person or know some about politics?
You could create a Swedish speaking Finnish character who is a part of either the democratic socialist, revolutionary socialist, or green party movements.

That would be great, as I said, getting into big role-plays is difficult. It's a fight not to get lost amoung the masses:)
I'm not too political though I do know some things. I would need to read up on it a bit though.
A Swedish speaking Finn would be good since few people know that we exist. Maybe I would even be fairly unique, most definitely authentic. I think that the green party would suit me best.
Oh and one more thing, what condition is Finland in at this point? Is it destroyed of still pretty much intact? The buildings, places? I need to work out the scene in my head so that I will have a clue what I've got to work with.

Finland is intact, but the whole world is run by Red Infinity so they don't have their own government any more. There are rebels based in Helsinki, the Green Party is based in Tampere, and there are other rebels based in Lapland.
The leader of the Green party is a man named Toivo Koivisto. The Swan of Tounela is also a member of the Green Party.
I will do my best to help you out. I was aware that there are some Swedish speaking Finns, where in Finland are you? Is it in northern Finland along the Swedish border that the Swedish finns are?

I know Helsinki well because we lived there at one point. Tampere is less familiar to me but I have been there many times as well. I have also been to Lapland, nice place, though annoyingly light in the summer. It's a small country, you have the oportunity to travel and see to most of the cities:)
No I don't live by the border, I live by the coast, down by Hanko (Hangö), in a town called Ekenäs, Tammisaari in Finnish. Nice to hear that someone knows about us, most Swedes don't even know that we exist.
I will still have to think about what party I should choose, I'll have to put quite a bit of work into my character. It might take a while. For now I have to go, it's late here. I will return at some point with my application, thank you for all your help. You have a very nice site, very unique, I have never seen anything like it before.

Good luck with the profile and thanks for joining, you will know more than all of us, since we are all mostly Americans.
My great grandparents came from Finland, so I am 80% Finnish and then the rest is mostly Slavic. My grandparetns speak Finnish but I do not.

What part of Finalnd are your grandparents from? Have you ever been to Finland? So there aren't any other Finns on this site then?

I have never been to Finland, I have been to Karelia, Russia which was somewhat close to the border, but I was not allowed to go to Finland during that trip.
I would like to go to Finland. I take an interest in Finnish mythology and culture. Though I have a lot to learn in both.
I am not certain where my grandparents originated from in Finland, I will have to ask. Their last names are Walli and Parviainnen.
Most people on this RPG are Americans so no one is fluent in Finnish or even familiar with the mythology. It is a learning experience for most everyone here.
I just happened to like Finland and Finnish myth, so I added elements of it to the rpg.

When you do visit Finland make sure that you make it out and see the archipelago, it's really beautiful. Don't just visit the cities, the best culture is out in the country, and the scenery is nice. I'm starting to sound like a tour guide now, sorry...
Oh and one more question, when I do join, and have been accepted, am I to post under the current thread? Where is the thread set, is it all the places at once or just one city/building? Sorry but I'm a bit confused. Everyone posts at the same place but they aren't really at the same place?

Everyone posts in main quest three now on the current thread. This rpg is run a little differently, but everyone posts there.
You just have to scan the posts to see if someone posted to you, since it is like one huge story about everything happening in the world.

Ok thanks for the info. Do we just imagine ourselves in different places, like mention it so others know where we are at the moment?

Visiting Finland would be really cool, if I weren't on the no-fly list... You make it sound so interesting.
Also, yeah. I had a bit of trouble adjusting to this form of RP before, but it grows on you.
Yes, you say where you are in the RP so others know where you are. e.g. Helsinki, Capital City, Beijing, blah blah blah, yakidy yak, I'll stop boring you. lol

Yes, so you might post something like:
I travel to Helsinki to visit the rebels there. After walking around the city for a few hours, I find the rebel base is an old metro station. I enter the station and look around to see if there is anyone I can talk to about joining the rebels. I take a seat and wait for someone to approach me.
And then you just wait for someone to post back to that.
