"Hmm, maybe that's why I'm stuck with Tanya..."
I look out over the lake, hands in my pockets, and contemplate where I'm going in life. Right now, my direction is very counterposed to what I want, but I feel so trapped... I can't just leave the military. And for what? Some political deviant that I've hardly talked to? I cross my arms, and wonder what would happen if I acted on impulse at this very moment. I face Bassarov.
"It must be liberating... To be so confident, all the time. The best I can do is just watch from afar."

"You don't have to live as you do. You could join me. I might like having you around. Anyway, everyone is going to join me come the revolution, so you may as well get an early start on things." Bassarov laughs.
"But no, those sorts of things take time to contemplate, and I don't want to take you from your responsibilites. I have to leave tomorrow anyway, since I was invited to speak to another group. I suppose I will be in Argentina again in a few months. I can pay you a visit in...February" Bassarov thinks outloud. He becomes a little antsy thinking about his schedual.
"You aren't bad looking, a little plain, but cute none the less. You should kiss me. Oh...you know as an experiment. It would be....oh....scientific."

I blush a little, and try to stifle a smile.
"Oh hell, for science... You're leaving tommorow anyways, right?"
I turn, and give him a quick peck on the lips.
"....Th-that wasn't so bad...."
I kiss him again, this time a little slower.

Bassarov smirks since when it comes to people, he can normally gets what he wants. And this young soldier would make an interesting play thing for the night. He puts his hands through Mischa's hair and deepens the kiss. He is not emotionally attached to Mischa, he is just an interesting thing to have around for now.
"You should stay with me tonight. I wouldn't mind the company. I can recite for you the speech I have prepared."
He puts his hands on Mischa's shoulders and runs them down his tan, muscular arms. There is something naive, boyish, and innocent about him, even though he is a soldier and is trained to kill people.
Bassarov kisses him again.
"Yes, you should come with me." He suggestion sounds more like a command.

I kiss him again, almost intoxicated by his presence.
"Ah-ahem... alright..." I say, nervously. To say that I've never met anyone like this would be an understatement. If I didn't know better, I'd say he was an angel.
"Do you want to head back now?"

"Yes, that would be excelent..." He smiles again and they walk back together to the apartment that Bassarov is staying at. The whole place is packed with boxes, stacked all to the ceiling in some cases.
"I am moving for a while since I never stay here anyway..." Bassarov says as he passes a tower of cardboard boxes.
"Sorry the only place to sit is in my bedroom since I have put all of my other furnishings in storage. Could I get you something to drink? I like juice. How about Siberian Cherry Juice."
Bassarov walks around the labyrinth of boxes to get to his refridgerator. He pours two classes of juice.
He walks back to Mischa, touching his hand as he gives him the glass.
"You are really jumpy. You should relax a little, I mean, you are in the military. You are a fearless soldier, aren't you? Then why be so jittery around insignificant me."
He looks into Mischa's eyes and takes a deliberately slow sip of juice.

I clear my throat.
"I'm sorry... I've just, I've never really met anybody like you before. I've never been in the position where I can decide what I want for myself, and everytime I try to, I end up with something like Tanya."
I take a sip of juice.
"And you... Mister revolutionary... You're just the embodiment of free thoughts. I don't want to end up like one of your followers who don't know anything about socialism, but continues to show up to your forums."
I shift in my seat.
"...I'm sorry, this is just very new to me..." I say, running my finger along the rim of the cup.

Bassarov takes Mischa's glass and sets it down on a box. He feels sorry for the man, and maybe a little guilty for taking him home. It is wrong to use him or to take him away from his girlfriend.
Then again, this man is caught in a life he doesn't want. He wants to be liberated, but lacks the means to do it on his own. Bassarov does have that power. To bestow upon Mischa a new path in life.
"You worry too much about things. I think so anyway. You are here with me now. Tomorrow you can go back to your routine, your girlfriend, and to being a soldier, but right now....you have the freedom to take what little pleasure this life might offer you."
He takes Mischa's hand and kisses him on the cheek gently.
"You can d**n the consequences..."

I smile.
"A lot is floating through my head right now, and interestingly enough, feeling guilty isn't included. Well, thank you, Vossya... You don't mind if I call you Vossya, do you?"
I kiss his hand.
"You know, we'll have to talk politics sometime... That could be unpleasant."

"Yes, we could talk about politics right now, and don't sell yourself short. I am sure you know more than me about many things." Bassarov leads Mischa to his room and sits down. He takes his jacket off and kicks off his shoes.
"Talk away, but don't mind if I get more comfortable."

"By all means... You see, I'm not comfortable with this whole notion of socialism, I mean granted, our system has a lot of flaws in it, but you can't honestly believe that people are actually going to go along with something like that, do you? I mean..."
I drone on and on about human nature, and how humans are born bad, and work in their own self interests.
"...and don't even get me started on the Soviet Union..."
I lean back on the bed, slide off my socks and watch.

Bassarov argues for a long time with Mischa. He first disputes the idea that human nature exists. It is socialy constructed to perpetuate the prevailing system and perpetuate the ruling class.
He argues that this system is in its final days, which is why there are great wars and starker economic gaps. There are fewer and fewer haves, and many more disgruntled have nots. This will culminate into revolution against the class oppressors to take back the profits gained from their labors. This will result in the creation of a new need based and equitable economic system. Humanity will flourish as it has never before, with shorter work days and the collective sharing of resources coupled with the collective ownership of the means of production.
As Bassarov explains, he paces around the room, sometimes becoming animated.
At last when it is done, he sits on the bed, and starts to unbutton his shirt.
"What do you think?...."

I cross my arms.
"Well, I think you're being unrealistic, but your charisma is intoxicating..."
I feel obligated to be honest with him, so I don't wind up being like one of his petty followers.
"But you are well learned, and fun to watch. It's no wonder you have your own fan club."

Bassarov is somewhat shocked, but not entirely. This man is a soldier, and soldiers aren't known for their "good" politics.
"Unrealistic....why! Change is the only thing we can rely on in this world. Do you truly think that capitalism will last forever with all the war and poverty it has created?!! Do you!!"
Bassarov steps back and feels completely insulted.
"Even capitalism came about because of revolution against monarchies...is it so far fetched to think that it couldn't happen again...but this time, not in the interests of slaveholders, merchants, landed elite looking to expand their own power....in the interests of working people themselves."
Bassarov rants a while longer before sitting down in utter frustration.

"This may be true, but even the merchants didn't have to rally the working class against the monarchs, they simply had to cow them along."
I slide under the covers.
"But we can discuss this later... Now is the time for my liberation, I'm a revolutionary tonight."
