Bassarov sighs lightly. "Yes, it is the only way to keep the movement alive. The movement is in bad shape Mischa. The rebels have gone their own directions. Some have disappeared entirely. We have to do this."

"I understand... Well that's depressing, but what can you do I guess?"
I set my book on the floor. An awkward silence ensues once the political talk is over.
"...so..."

Iivari feels sympathy for the woman and her experiences, but he is firm in his faith. If Tapio is evil, then he is the follower of an evil god. He knows this is not true.
"I do not believe that Red Infinity is evil. They may do bad things...unjust things. Some evil people may work for them, but they are not evil as a whole. There is some goodness within Red Infinity. You worked for them, you should know that not everyone there is evil, and even the evil ones are not absolutely dark inside."

"The FRA is back and under new leadership. Their leader has a battleship and is coming to Helsinki to meet me. I don't like the idea of working with capitalists. But...since we both oppose Red Infinity it is not unreasonable. Do you think I am compromising my ideals by offering to cooperate with them?"

Grove walks to Roane and comforts her, holding her shoulders as he squats down behind her as he speaks to Iivari in a stern manner.
"Gods lie Iivari. Your god is no exception. If you wish to die blinded by your beliefs then by all means, go. Personally I will not try to stop you, but you can tell your god that his request has been denied... Just one more thing... A man can be evil, but do good deeds in spite of this. A group of people lead by evil, believing to be following their savior, are blinded to what they are actually doing to those not of their beliefs."

"The world can not be so simply divided between good and evil. We are no better. If we were truly good we would have let the Bloodspeakers kill us, rather than fight and ruin the forests. Our propensity towards violence is a violation of justice and goodness. I am no longer going to fight Red Infinity. The forest is more important than my own selfish politics and my own life."

"And you forget that it was Red Infinity that had destroyed the forest to begin with. They had already scattered the Green Party, but continued to burn the forest for no reason. We fought them on the already destroyed section of the forest by my request so that more of it would not be destroyed and held off on its healing until after the fight for the very same reason. You say 'Our propensity towards violence is a violation of justice and goodness.' Then how about you take that and turn it around at Red Infinity. I am sure you will see it applies more to them than us. You are seeing what you want to see, and not what is really there."

"Well... I'd like to say that the ends justify the means..." I scratch my head. "Just keep your eyes on them, I don't trust them. I think realistically, we need to find as many allies as possible."

"But we fought them before you showed up. I am talking about the battle you were not apart of. The one where Edea and Kaitalish destroyed our home and the forest. You appeared later and fought them elsewhere, indeed that is true, but I am refering to our first encounter with them."
"We could have chosen not to fight them. They came because of our rebelious actions. That is why they came here and not elsewhere."

"Maybe we should meet with the anarchists and the green party as well. I sent Garret and Linnea to meet with the anarchists but they have not yet returned."

"And why do you think I moved the base tree so far away from them? Because I did not want to fight. They hunted us down and tried to kill us. If they were looking for food I would have no problem with that, were they to use our bodies for such a reason as any normal animal does. No, they came to kill for the sake of killing. It is not even a matter of self desire to kill, it was an order... To me, there is nothing more gross than a mind that is influenced into killing for no reason other than your boss told you to."

At Groves words she hides her face. She had been one of those people. She had been a killer for the sake of her bosses orders. She was so ashamed of it all.
I was one of them...Iivari can you not believe me? One who was in the organization? I know how it works...How they are. I would do anything to take back everything...they are monsters...ALL of them. Even me...
She whispers this as she hangs her head.

"We disobey the laws and as long as we disobey them, Red Infinity will send people to kill us. People who obey the goverment are not bothered like we are. Therefore, if we just obey the laws, Red Infinity will leave us alone." Iivari sits on a stump. His head hurts. He has worshiped Tapio for hundreds of years and knows that his god is right. "Have you ever heard of the Crito? In the Crito, Socrates as going to be executed because he disobeyed the laws. He could have avoided this punishment, but he argued that the government is like a parent. It allowed his parents to marry and made laws to protect him. Therefore, he owed it to the government to follow the laws, even to his death."

"That sounds like a good idea, we need to keep up our networking."
I jump out of bed.
"When are you meeting the FRA?"

"Lady Blue will call me when she arrives in Helsinki. I expect it will take her a few more hours." Bassarov replies. He leans back on Mischa's bed.
"I hate the FRA. I hate capitalists. Working with them makes my blood boil. If you want to know the truth I am getting frustrated with Zero. She cares about me too much. I feel like I am being suffocated. I need some time away from her but I don't want to hurt her feelings. I am also afraid that if I hurt her, she might go back to the FRA. I need her around because she is the most valuable rebel."
Bassarov closes his eyes.
"d**n, I really am a jerk."
