(Tensuo, I am moving your character.) I take Tensuo's hand and teleport us to Lapland. "You know we could try to triangulate it's position, that way we'd just have to search a couple dozen acres instead of a hundred thousand square miles..." I light a cigarette and wait for a response.

"I wish Tahti Punainen was around. He might know where this artifact is. Oh well, I think that I am going to find Lemminkainen. He should be around here." Bassarov walks off to find Lemminkainen.

I wander off and find a stump within a hundred feet of where we arrived. I look to see that no one is watching, then pull a flask from my boot and drink the contents. It is the 190-proof vodka that I had stashed from earlier, and soon I am feeling pretty mellow... I just hope Bassarov takes his time finding Lemminkainen...

My training with Talice has been intense, and I have had little else to occupy my mind of late. However, now that I have a brief respite, I begin to wonder how my mother is doing. With some effort, I drag myself out of bed and walk down the halls, asking around until I locate where my mother is being kept. Tentatively, I knock on the door.

I get up and open the door, and am immensely surprised to see who it is. I take a step back and dim my eyes, however no doubt he already saw that glow... "H.. Hello. I haven't seen you for awhile, how is your training going?"

I am just as if not more awkward than Zwei.
"Well... er... I have been... well... the training is tough... but I am not doing... er... bad...ly..."

"Well... Good." I realize that I barely know this man, despite the fact that he is my own son. Allowing him to be raised in the past, although it was conveniant for me and probaly better for him, does mean that I don't know the first thing about the only good thing ever to come from me... "I had wanted to see you, because I have to become part of Little Sister... That and I have to be locked in there for some things that I did."

"Little Sister? I... I am not aware of what that is... and what... what have you done? Why are you locked here?"

"I was... Well, not myself. And I killed some people. Enemies of ours to be sure, but..." I find that I don't have the will to tell him what actually happened. "And little sister is a project to spy on our enemies. I am to act as it's controller." I step back into the room and sit at the table, after tripping and almost falling three times. With my eyes dimmed I can barely see... Then again I can't see very well even when my eyes are at full power...

"Are you all right mother?" I ask, concerned.

"It's my eyes. I was trying not to frighten you, but my eyes glow from the ionized neon gas inside them. If I force them to dim I can barely see." To me it is nothing, surely my son has little control over when he blinks or breathes. I let the glow brighten slightly, which gives a slight improvement to my vision. "I'm sorry if I frighten you, but I don't want to be like this any more than you would want to."

I draw back slightly.
"Er... how... why... why are they like that?"

A memory comes back into my mind. There is no image involved, just a feeling of having my eyes removed... "Well... It's because of this." I pull up my hair, revealing a large socket on the back of my head. "When that was installed my optic nerve was cut. The scientists couldn't reattach it so I had to get these artificial eyes. My brother was the same way."

I resist an impulse to turn and run, though I pale visibly.
"Why do you have such a thing?" I ask in a terse voice.

"I used to be a part of a system... And I was the host to a program..." my eyes begin to tear up, and I sniff a couple times. "It made me do things... Bad things. That is why everyone hates me..."
