I wake up to the sound of someone saying my name and feel a heavy weight on my chest. I look down and see a large history book pressing down on me, still open to the introduction. Sitting up, I next see Kakashi coming in through the door.
Yawning I answer him. "Hello Kakashi... I was just..."
I look around for Illidan and find him playing with a pile of books that he has pulled off of the bottom two shelves of Kakashi's bookshelf. He seems content.
"I was just trying to do some reading. How was the store?"
I stand up and stretch, setting the large, heavy book on the couch.

"Bad. But I did get some food. Apples and oranges mainly. Did you and Illidan have a fun time while I was gone?"

"O, you wouldn't believe how much fun."
I walk aimlessly around the livingroom for a bit.
"So, what is on the agenda for the rest of the day?"

"Whatever you'd like to do. The stuff from your apartment will be here in three days and the bed I ordered is coming this evening.
Until then, we can do whatever. Want to go for a walk in the woods or something?"

"Yes, I would be up for a walk. Are there any nice places around here? Somewhere out of the city? I could use the company of some reckless nature."

"We just walk outside and head north. We're on the edge of the city and there's a nice park with some woods to the north of here."

"Sounds good. Should I grab a jacket?"
I am excited to get up and out of the house. I do feel so couped up when I am indoors and in one place for too long. I walk over to the playing baby Illidan and pick him up.

"It's not very cold out but it might be best to be prepared." Kakashi sets the fruit in the fridge and gets his own coat from the hanger.

"Alright."
Instead of digging through mounds of boxes ((I can't remember if the boxes made it to the house)), I go into the bedroom and grab a quilt off of the bed and wrap it around myself. It is blue and looks hand made. I also grab a baby blanket from Illidan's crib to make sure that he will stay warm.
"I think we are ready. Lead on, kind sir."

Kakashi chuckles to himself and holds the door open for Fascia as they walk outside. It takes about ten minutes to reach the park. The weather is cold but not so cold as to be greaty uncomfortable. The trees are mostly pine so the park has plenty of green. No one else seems to be around. "Well, that's a plus. No humans wandering around."

I smile at Kakashi from within the folds of the large, blue quilt.
"Since when have you been so antagonistic towards humans. I thought that you were rather undecided on the subject."
The air outside is wonderful: brisk and full of the scent of pine. I breathe in deeply and feel a sense of myself rush in with the fresh, cool air. This is where an elf belongs, not cooped up in some apartment or office or house.

"From a year of watching every stupid little thing that they do. Humans aren't the worse I've ever seen but their unpleasent. I probably wouldn't say that to their face but since their not around..."

I smile again, he knows just the right words to say to a girl.
It is true, my distaste for humans has seemingly had to have been put on hold for awhile as I waded through life in an office job, but just the thought of how I used to hunt them down and kill them... It just makes me feel a little bit happier.
Have I really changed that much? Have I become lax and desensitized? I hope not. I need to renew my vigor, rekindle my passions.
"Yes, they are quite idiotic, aren't they?"

"That is exactly the word I would use to discribe them. Their an advanced people. They seem to be bright, inventive, and capable of surviving nearly anything, and yet their incapable of forming an effective system of managing themselves.
I think the problem is that they don't live long enough. They don't learn from the past and they fail to teach their children the leasons that they learned in their own lives. As a result, the same mistakes are made in each and every generation.
This victims of their own pathetic nature."

I set Illidan down in the grass and pull the quilt tighter around me. Every word that comes out of Kakashi's mouth makes me like him even more. It is so true. I never thought that the short lifespan would have any part of the reason, but now it seems to make such sense.
I look down at Illidan. We will not make the same mistake with this one.
I feel energized, full of life... these woods... this conversation, it is all so life-giving.
"I'm glad that we decided to come out here, Kakashi. This is a nice place."
