Chaya walks off so he can continue searching for Raz. He has not been able to thank her yet and also feels very attached to her. He feels that he owes her his existance and does not take that debt lightly.

Bassarov is startled when the woman from the Ministry of Information comes by and takes some of their books, including the rough draft of "The Red Beast" that Bassarov was proof reading.
"This will be bad on my employment record, but I am not going back to my teaching job...I have decided." Bassarov announces after the Ministry of Information leaves.
"Freakboy and Alister are captured, so we will really have to do something about that." He adds.

Alister lays complacently on the ground, accepting the beatings bestowed upon him. He raises his head with his weak, trembling neck.

Keitoleinen sends new orders to the members of the League of the Godless. The prison cells are filling up, but few are tormenting the prisoners.
He orders Hedeon to torture Ezra Weil.
He is concerned that the Eternal Light now has some powerful people protecting them. This will make work harder. He orders that the following people are captured or killed.
Calithin- Captured and brought to Keitoleinen
Indira- Killed
Linnea- Captured and brought to Keitoleinen
Ruth and Gunnar- Captured and Tortured
Oneiroi- Captured and tortured
After giving out his orders, he goes down to Sephos' cell.
"I know you are not religious, so we will make this simple. I will cut off your wings and release you. You will be free until they grow back. At that time, we will capture you can cut them again. So...extend your wings and we can be done with this nasty business."
Keitoleinen draws his sword so he can cut her wings.

I sit down and cross my legs. I read his mind just to toy with him and see if he can sense what I am doing. I find that he has naturally high defenses against that sort of thing.
