I am trying to make my board within the TOS agreement of proboards, since boards that are not in agreement with this are deleted and will not be returned. I would rather not have this happen since we have so many members and posts.

If we are in violation is is because of underage members, I would ask that anyone who knows of members under 13 report them to me so they can be removed from the board. They can always return once they are 13.

If anything else on this board seems to violate the TOS, let's discuss it here and what can be done about it.

Also if someone knows how to backup the site in case of deletion, please let me know.

I have not been warned by proboards, but am concerned since they delete boards often without reason or warning.

if you do that youll most likely drag your computer because of the size of the site. if it doens't start dragging it might not transfer all the data or even worse, trash your computer.

I would like to somehow back up the site. I am not sure how though.

I am worried that somethings on this site could be taken out of context and they could shut it down eventually.

This is sometimes mature site. Even the plot of the rpg is not the standard anime or fantasy rpg. It presents mature ideas and sometimes there are mature situations.

I want this rpg to push the envelope, but at the same time I do not want it to be vulgar.

Please post any suggestions of how I can find balance between censorship and a dark and mature reality.

That will be difficult. You can't exactly say "You can't say this, this and that" because people won't like it if they can't express themselves like they want to. Sex has been cut to a bare minimal, atleast in my opinion, so thats not really a problem.

Honestly, if a younger person (13 and over, of course) understands what we say, then they are mature enough.

The only way you can truly cut back is think of a way to stop members from doing things. Quite frankly, I'd say that this site is pushing R or NC-17 in some aspects, black type or not. Frankly, you can either have no censorship and have the website remain as it is, or you can ban certain activities and make it more acceptable. So long as there are no rules or such activities are not moderated, the precedent is that it will continue to occur. So really, you'll have to make the decision, do you want to make this site more "younger-audience friendly" or do you want to keep it as is and risk Proboards doing something, which I highly doubt will happen, especially since they haven't done anything yet and there is no indication that they'll do anything. There are thousands of Proboards sites out there, and unless the staff specifically contacts you about something, I'd say you're fine.

In terms of backing up the site your best bet that I have seen is HTTrack. Bassarov, I am working on a script to automatically back up the site, but it is an inefficient save and will be several hundred megs (unlike the 1-10 megs it costs Proboards).

Technically even swearing and talking about sexuality in neutral educational ways is against the "family friendly" rules of proboards.

I am not pushing illegal activity or pornography here, and the mature content is in context to a mature universe.

I will work to save information on the site in the event it ever gets shut down, which if I did, I would raise hell with proboards, even if nothing much could be accomplished by it.

We will continue to moderate things that are vulgar or inappropriate for the very young.

The main change, is that I am going to actively look for underage members and delete them. Those under 13 should not be here.

Thanks Zero. I've been saving some information just page by page to help to rebuild the site should it ever be shut down, but this is a slow process and I am only saving the important things, such as rules, information, member list, headers and footers, colour codes, etc.

That doesn't work, the ASS thing that is. It just makes people use Red Infinity characters for their sex scenes, and whenever a sex scene is deemed important to the plot for some reason or another it gets passed over, so its not like its really working.

As far as the censorship thing goes, again, that's up to you. My major concern was the god-modding and power-gaming, but that seems to be under control. If you set rules concerning other things, they will be enforced, but as I've said, this site crossed the line of "family friendly" a LONG time ago, and I honestly doubt that there's any going back once said line has been crossed.

Thanks for the link Zero, Mischa is backing up the site. I feel much more at ease now, since the rpg would have to get rid of all swear words, references to sex and sexuality, graphic violence, use of drugs or alcohol, etc. to fit into the family friendly terms of proboards.

At least if anything happens I will have everything saved.
