Usegi is the mother of Iltanesh, and like her son, has a deep and supernatural connection to the universe. She has a special bond to the elements of wind and water. She was once a samurai, but as she is getting older is now an inkyo, or type of monk.
She lives in Kyoto, Japan where she keeps up the family estate. She is a supporter of the rebels and is a member of the religious group known as the Eternal Light.
Her husband was also a Samurai, but died of illness, leaving with her the duty of manageing the estate and family
She would like to help the rebels more, and may have the opportunity to do so, when her son leads a rebel group from their estate in Kyoto
