Sasha's origin dates way back 20,000 years ago. He is a piece of an ancient, lost technology. When he was first created, he was consindered to be too powerful to be released into the world. So he was sealed away in a pod in an ancient tomb underground. If he were to ever go out of control, there would most likely be more powerful beings in a future that could stop him.
