Lachek has been following the beautiful vampire as she walks around the city. He watches as she meets a little girl in the street. He watches as she kills that girl and her brothers and sisters. 'This is my kind of woman', he thinks as he sees the blood flow. He continues to follow her as she leaves them and walks on. He is in the form of a moth, flying above her, she does not notice him. He watches as she stops and gazes up at a man. The look on her face changes and he sees her mouth a word. 'Who is this man,' Lachek wonders, 'that has such an odd effect on my quarry?' He flies up close to get a better look at the man. He is dark and young and bleeding. He seems to notice the woman too, and seems afraid by what he sees. 'He should be afraid', thinks Lachek, this one is dangerous.

Mortis:
"This will be the most challenging part of all. But Jumala wants you to understand true love and true compassion. Perhaps Yohko will count as one of them. She seems very fond of you. You should spend time with her."

Mortis:
"All that Jumala really cares about is that you learn to care about others, mortal or immortal. I'm sure she'll pass for one of the requirements. What do you think of her?"

To Sazumi:
"I had a strange dream myself, or maybe it was not a dream. I'm not certain. I was on the balcony and I thought I saw the woman who released me. She spoke my name, but then was gone. It left me rather frightened, since she is a dangerous woman and she might come back to kill me. But it left we nervous for other reasons too....
Remember what I told you when we were in the past. I said that I love nothing but politics. I swear to this day that is the truth. But it seems that woman poses a challenge to these cherished truths."

Mortis:
"I won't tell anyone what you've said. Personally, I find her a little too hyper, but since your so shy and quiet, spending time with someone like that would be a good change. You need more friends, sir and she seems very eager to spend time with you."

Lachek, still in the form of a moth, sits on the railing of the balcony, still watching the man. The man has gone inside and is now speaking to a young girl. It is what he is saying that interests Lachek. He is talking about the vampiress, he knows this, and it seems that he is in love with her. Lachek will not have his own interests thwarted by some mortal. He floats inside and takes his normal shape and smiles as he addresses the man. "hello sir," he says with a sneer, "It appears that we have a common interest. I would appreciate if you would follow me outside so that we can DISCUSS it further." Lachek has no intention of discussing anything, it is communication of a more violent nature that he desires.

"I think you also count Mortis, your not a friend Mortis, your a best friend. You were always there by my side." When Surma said this sentence,Mortis knew that he was trying to change the topic.

Bassarov is confused by the sudden appearance of a stranger in his friend's apartment. He wonders what could possibly be the business between them. The man wears extravagent clothes and appears very wealthy. He walks stiffly and makes grand gestures with his arms. This man is an aristicrat, and therefore, Bassarov's natural enemy.
"Yes, very well then. Sazumi, I will be outside for a moment. I do not know what this man wants, but I'm sure our business will be over shortly," Bassarov says, flashing her a smile, then turning to the stranger, and becoming intensely focused.

Mortis:
"Yes, I suppose that I have been your companion since you were small. But it is only natural that you go out and find others. I can not be your only friend. Besides, I am not very fun to be with. I am too serious and focused on serving you. Yohko isn't serious at all."

Lachek leads the young man downstairs and outside the building. When they arrive on the street, Lachek turns to the man and says, "Tell me what you know of the woman you saw on the street earlier. What is her name, and how do you know her?"
