Bassarov has a strange dream. In it he sees Zephyr, who he wants to get along with, but somehow can not relate to. They get in a fight. Kaieka was there, which was strange...why would she be there. As they are fighting, Bassarov's brother appears, then shoots at the cyborg...Bassarov, for some strange reason takes the bullet. Then, there is a Zebra. Bassarov opens his eyes to bright lights and sterile white. He is disorriented, but soon realizes that he is in a hospital. His chest is bandaged. It wasn't a dream....
He gazes out the window and sees the Hermitage.
"St. Petersburg..." Bassarov mutters.
"I want...to get along with Zephyr. If I can not, that means there is something wrong with me.....I get along with everyone...why not him....if I can not tolerate him, then, then I am not really over Kaieka...."
Bassarov gets up. He has to get to Moscow. His chest hurts and he is weak, but he won't let anything happenn to Riku....
