Andrew feels what is like an empty city street. The only difference that he can find is that the area is completely devoid of any smells or movement.
He can feel the rough pavement through his shoes.
Andrew holds his cane losely.
"So, um, now what?"

Andrew
((Many of the weapons Zalgar uses have special properties. You may one day see exactly why that is, but for now, we'll just say that this isn't ordinary wood. It, too, is unbreakable, but it is still supple and bends easily, allowing it to whip around and making it harder to guard against.))
"Now, we see what you can do."
I lunge forwards with my pole, jabbing forward at Andrew's belly and snapping it upwards in a scooping motion that should break the ribcage and snap the neck back if successful.
Heaven-Lee
I flip to the side and turn to face you.
"Your technique isn't bad, you have all the basics down. You lack but one thing, and that is the knowledge of how to improvise. Set techniques are always good, but if you are facing an opponent with intimate knowledge of the fighting style, you are at a disadvantage. The true strength in a fight comes from one's ability to compensate for the weaknesses in their style, to use attacks that are in no book or manual, and to use them to a great effect."

((Okey dokey. ) Andrew anticipates the attack, bends his body and jumps back, avoiding getting hit by the staff. He shifts his body weight so that if Zalgar dodges or tries to catch the cane, he will not be caught off balance, and then he fakes swinging at Zalgar's head. He holds the cane in one hand so the other is free. He then switches directions abrubtly, and goes for the hand Zalgar is using to hold his staff.

"Heheh, looks like you've found yourself quite a few new pupils, Zalgar. I'll always be the first, though. So what do you say to a match, for old times sake?"

"Improvisation? Do you mean that I should adjust my fighting skills, as little as they are, to something to make up for anything I may lack? Such as, do anything in the right mind to win a fight? Or do you mean to adjust the moves I know in a way I feel is best for me?"

Andrew
As you dodge out of the way of my pole, I snap it back into an upright defensive position and begin twirling it around quickly, in a move that should easily deflect your cane.
"Not bad, but not good enough."
Heaven-Lee
By improvisation, I mean do not be bound to the set rules of the fighting style you've learned. Learn to go with the flow in battle. Be like a river, for it can adapt whenever something is thrown in its way and continue to flow. When I attack, remember your own training, yes, but also remember that I can recognize your style. Make the style truly unique, learn to use moves that have never been taught, react quickly and adapt to any situation I present to you.
Matsumura
Another of myself appears behind Matsumura.
"Of course. What kind of match do you desire?"

"Hmm, I suppose not. I was attempting to disarm you," Andrew says, also returning to a defensive position.

"I must compliment you, seer. Even with your sight surpressed, you can still predict my moves and dodge them well."
My pole seems to blur as I swing my pole at Andrew's feet, whipping it around my head and swinging it again at his head, grasping the end of the pole almost the full six feet are between me and him.
((The staff is actually one of my favorite weapons in real life, and I'm pretty good with it. Just thought you should know.))

Ichiro was completely lost in the woods when he found a dojo.
"Hello? Anyone here?" Ichiro called.

Another of myself appears besides the now weaponless and powerless Ichiro.
"Welcome to my dojo. How may I help you?"

Andrew jumps, ducks, and then grabs the end of Zalgar's staff. He attempts to twist it, so Zalgar will be forced to let go of it.
((I fence in real life. Fencing doesn't tend to have much application in a real fight though.))

"I want to have a real match with you. No shananigans, no tricks, no arena modifications. Just one on one with whatever weapon you choose.

Andrew
((Not too fond of the fencing style myself))
Since Andrew is still holding his cane, he can only twist my staff with one hand. I tighten my grip on the pole and twist the other way, bracing myself and pulling it down to dislodge his grip. Should that maneuver succeed, I snap the pole forward and upwards in an attempt to snap his neck backwards.
Matsumura
"Very well then. You shall have the honor of facing my very first weapons."
The space at my side glimmers for a moment, and an ancient, beautifully crafted katana and wakizashi appear at my side. The arena remains that of a normal dojo room, though the doors snap shut so as to block it off.
"We may begin when you are ready."

Heaven-lee nodded. "I understand." Then she took the familiar fighting position once more with the exception that the hand of her defense arm was now held more loosely in preparation to use it when necessary.

I move forward, seemingly in a blur, and my claw-like hand swipes at Heaven-lee's face.
