I think we're all being a bit alarmist here... The site isn't likely to die in teh foreseeable future. Also I have seen plans for similar games to this on Obsidian Fortress, so if this game does die (which, as I said, should be a good long ways off) there will be others to go to.

hmm, well power nullification should be considered powerplaying, and EMP and power nullification arent the same, so you do only use one technique to nullify powers. *shrugs* oh well, i just make technques that deal with the post count, since that is the only way to really keep track of power......
and the mods being the ones with power nullification doesnt mean they should be excused it they misuse it... just because your a mod doesnt make it ok to powerplay....

I think Bassarov is building up to it. It wouldnt exactly seem the same, though, if Bassarov wasnt running it...

If you are referring to Void regarding your last post John, he does not powerplay. I, though I dont know if he included me in his statement, am also there to back him up on this one.

Thank you Grove.
And Riku, I was referring to the Power Nullification ability I took upon creating Relentless, and the Null Stone ability I took later. That's two powers, one used to improve an existing one.

I have a complaint. Since i have been here (i was a guest many a time before i actually joined) I noticed that Riku and his many characters are all posted on the same name. That is a bit tiresome for people who are looking for characters but may not know you are all of those so overlook the post by accident. It seems to be very irksome. If you make all of those characters post as them. Youre taking a cheap way out my friend. *ticks*
And we have something to say about the power playing. We are sorry to say it but Riku you are one of the biggest power players on here. You act as if nothing can touch any of your characters...ever. We want to drop kick you in the head yes we do when we read that. Also we want to say that you seem to accuse so many of doing what you yourself do. O until you handle your own problem i would stop whining and suck it up. I have seen your new characters who have less posts than i have now try and be superman to charis who have 10 times what you do. We are sorry to vent so but since you keep whining about PP's we wonder how much self loathing is involved actually.

It does anger me that people attack John so much. There must be a more diplomatic way to voice our complaints.
I will say that there are some characters who have grown too strong, and that is an imbalance to the power in the game
Some of these characters are: Peter Riku John Virgil
I am fine with the idea of powerful characters as long as they are following Red Infinity's orders and are controllable.
Non red infinity characters generally should not be that powerful.
How powerful should a character be? That is something hard to gauge, I suppose one character should not be able to defeat a dragon or if this is done, it is done as a fluke. That is one way to gauge things
Good characters are characters that rely more on plot and character development, than feeding their own egos through fights and general thingyiness
Good characters have depth and purpose, they also have personality and politics
They do a variety of things, political, romantic, friendship, leisurely
Here are a list of really great characters that we should look to as examples of this:
Zinn Andrew Kasher Mikhael Nadyezhda Bassarov (so I am biased here) Sasha Kropotkin Zhuge Liang Lady Violet Chao Zadung Zero Americanski Kassenia Rodthingy Maestro Anutsaka
There, these are a variety of characters that have politics or ideals, they stick to them, they have internal and external conflict, that do a variety of things, and they embody how a character should behave

Aww. I am not on the list. Oh well. I too dislike having such godly characters running around. Of course, I have my own godly character, but I never fight with him really. I think your description of 'appropriate power' is right on the money. 'Weaker than a dragon' is where 99% of the people on this board should fall into.

Agreed, but it's so hard to resist. Remember where we learned to play? Ice's board. Not a place that encouraged underplayed characters.
I will tone down both Peter and Virgil as much as I can. As for politics, most of Peter's internal stuggle was revolved around Chastity and since she's not here I have to find something else to mess with him. Virgil... well, for now I'll just say that I do have a plan to make him more political.

At the moment I am starting a movement to have standardized power limits within the Mod forums. Hopefully, we will be able to eliminate these problems.

Oh, cool, this character and one of my other ones made that list. I'm flattered, considering this is only the second text-based RPG I've ever partcipated in.
One of my other characters has a power nullifier. However, I agree we need limits. Perhaps null fields only work under certain conditions, like within a certain distance of Red Infinity headquarters. That way, Relentless can't pop into the rebel base and create a null field. Also, I sort of agree with John on this one, but you do have a tendency to power play a bit. I'm not saying John is totally innocent, but that thing with Iltanesh in the Ministry of Terror was just annoying. I know you had an escape planned out, but the way you did it was in complete disregard of any security systems the Ministry might have. You can't just shut of the null field by talking to rats and walk out.
I dislike characters that claim power over all of the elements. One of John's characters does the same thing. It's such a broad thing, and can be manipulated like god powers. If a character wants to have a connection or a command over a single element, that's OK, but all of the elements is just overkill. Also, being able to pull things out of thin air is part of the problem. If someone wants command of plants, there have to be some plants around to command.
I'm done kvetching now.

The thing with the rats was actually Bassarov's idea, I just went along with it. I was actually supposed to escape, but that idea was scrapped midfight. That is another story, however.
And as far as the elements go, I've been thinking of scaling that back for awhile now, since I really started using it. I'd made it awhile back since it fit with the motif of Iltanesh's character, and Kolov didn't see any problems with it. When I used it, I found it to be quite powerful indeed. I'm probably going to be doing it one at a time, as it stands right now it is a bit excessive.
I do feel, however, that taking a different element with each power shouldn't be disallowed. Perhaps some sort of other control perameters will be enacted.

Josh the Crash Master can't be the owner of Nike. Nike doesn't exist anymore. It was a huge capitalist corporation, and it seems that in the event of a communist revolution, it would be one of the first things to go. Its business is sweat shop based, and since the third world was destroyed, I doubt the company would manage to stay in business. I think we shoul have a ban on anymore characters from Earth coming in as really rich.

I agree with Zinn, since all aspects of the economy are controlled by Red Infinity
But this presents an opening for our first capitalist anarchist...

I would like to complain that someone went ahead and made a Red Infinity 2 rpg
This was made without my permission and it really angers me
I was told it is just a parody, but I am less than enthused about the idea, since I had no part in its development and was not asked if I would even approve of such an idea
Therefore, please refrain from copying this rpg and making spin offs
I can not stop or control you, but out of respect for my wishes, I would appreciate it.
