Yes, yes I did. I was saying that music like Metallica, Evanescence, AC/DC, and other hard rock bands were good and that Emo was bad. Wait, but you said you like Thursday. Thursday is Emo, and Emo is bad. You're a traitor to the good name of Rock!!!!!!

Anutsaka, you're better off in the dust on this one. It's emotional rock, but it's crap. It's a bunch of whiney spoiled rich kids pretending that they have problems so that they can get even more money. It's like punk rock without testicles.

Thurday are a bunch of cra'ppy poseurs.
Also, none of the bands you metioned are Gothic. Gothic musc tends to be slow, with synthesizers and/or keyboards. Some gothic bands are Apotygma Berzerk, Bauhaus, and Christian Death. They tend to have lyrics revolving around death and society.
You don't know anything about emo if you think Thurday is emo. That's like saying Simple Plan is Punk.
Emo stands for Emotional HARDCORE. It is like hardcore punk rock, but slower, with distorted guitars, introspective lyrics, and quirky drum beats. The first Emo band is widely considered to be Rites of Spring. They were more Hardcore than emo, but thier lyrical content was very poetic, unlike the other hardcore bands at the time that would just scream about destroying the government. Guy Picciato, the lead singer of Rites of Spring, was a dynamo live. He would scream, laugh, cry, rage, and go completely insane during preformances. Some other good emo bands are Fugazi, Embrace, Jets to Brazil, Jawbreaker, Mineral, Hot Water Music, Cursive, and Bright Eyes.

It's like a bunch of eunuchs complaining about how bad life is, even though they're rich and famous (by eunuchs, I'm referring to what they sound like, not that they actually are). It's CRAP!!!! And I never said Metallica was gothic. I'm not defending gothic. The only one I mentioned who could be contrued as Gothic is Evanescence. I'm defending hard rock!!! There is nothing hardcore about whining and pregnant doging. Emo is not hardcore.
"No you're not hardcore!!!! Unless you live hardcore!!!!! But the legend of the rent was way hardcore!!!!!!!!!!"

Hrdcore...what are you saing, define the word hardcore...from when Hard Rock is about being Hardcore...if You want to be Hardcore join army...for all the years of creating Rock and Roll the only purpose of egzistance of this music was freedom to all, no matter if you're sisi boy or hardcore its the music for every one...if you hate life as it is thats rock and roll, if you hate establishment that is rock and roll, if you love peace, personal abstraction and freedom of will that's also rock and roll...if you like guns, war and other crap like that, THAT IS I REPEAT THAT IS NOT ROCK AND ROLL...Eversence is not gothic, AC\DC is the one of the greatest bands, Rage Against the Machine sucks, and Black Sabbath rocks.....

I hate to break it to you, but Evanescence is Christian Gothic Rock, it is. And yes AC/DC and Black Sabbath both rule. And if you listen to the message behind Rage Against the Machine, you'd realize just how good they truly are. But what was the whole point of that post? Who said that guns and war are Rock n Roll? Rock n Roll is freedom and rebellion, that's frickin' obvious. Are you people even reading the posts before you make them? You don't even know what this debate is about!

Christian Gothic? I think that's abit of an oxymoron. I don't mean that because goths are satan-worshippers, because they aren't. I mean that because goth music is all about the rejection of the mainstream. It is heavily influenced by Nihilism.
None of the bands I mentioned are rich. In fact, Emo is notorious for its anti-capitalist actions. Fugazi never charged more than five dollars a show, and they never even made t-shirts, because for them, it was all about the music. It's very un-emo to charge more than six or seven dollars for a concert.
Also, none of the bands I mentioned whines. Ever. Seriously dude, you have no idea what you're talking about.
Hadcore is another word for basic Punk Rock. Some good hardcore bands are the Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Minor Threat, and the Reagan Youth.

I agree with muadib, Evanescene isn't gothic. And definatly not Christian Gothic, that's impossible. Evanescene is more of a rock band with darker tones, like muadib said.
However, I don't understand how Rage Against the Machine could possibly suck, since they won grammy's and changed Rock and Roll as we knew it.
Oddly enough, if you have ever seen School of Rock, they have one scene in a montage where they break down all the different 'denominations' of rock, like Metal, Punk, Grundge, etc. Most of them are fairly accurate, but it does kinda show that rock is not one genre. Thought it was interesting.
That's my two cents. By the way, I mostly like Metal, and hard rock.

Emo is a form of expression too. Hell, the entire genre is based on expression. It seems to me you heard some stupid songs from a poseur band like Thursday and made a snap judgement.
It doesn't say anything about being gothic in there. Maybe Christian hard rock, but not gothic.
Winning Grammys is not a sign of musical excellence, just a sign of popularity.
Metallica are a bunch of whiney, greedy labelmonkeys. They sue people for the dumbest reasons. Also, if they shouldn't complain about filesharing, because if people actually like their band, they'd buy the CD. Their CD sales are declining because their music has gotten worse, not because of filesharing.
OK, this conversation is getting waaaay too agressive. Ummmm..... so.... how about that weather?
Does anyone here like the Pixies? You might have heard their song "Where is My Mind?" at the end of Fight Club.

C'mon dont say that. History shows that metallica was one of the best bands that playes music from the eage of rock and metal...remamber the had put a lot to a rock as we know it through their music, I agree that their last album isnt too great and that chord history is really I mean really stupid and i think that a commercial move... but if looking at their carer there was a great music uniqe and diffrent from other remamber the albums like black album, master puppets ot eaven ride the lightning.....
