Before we get mods, we should work out a set of rules that the mods can base their decisions on, and people can read before making decisions on powers.

That's a good idea, it'd probably be set down by Bassarov of course, and we'd probably have the mods discuss it as well.

My own take on this issue is simple: Whenever any of my characters aquire a new power I always get it approved to be sure I'm not abusing any rules. I will be the first to admit that I have powergamed before, so I am not an innocent in this argument. Unfortunately this method is slow (it requires IMing or PMing a mod every new power BEFORE it takes effect) but it does help to prevent abuse.
Now as a mod I think this whole argument is starting to get out of proportion: We already have one major player contemplating quitting (John) and many others falling into bitter argument over an issue that should be dealt with between the existing forum staff first. We're here to have fun, not nitpick minor issues.
That's my opinion.

Fair enough. I agree that we (including myself) have definitely been too hard on John. Personally, I didn't mean to hurt his feelings. I was just trying to offer constructive criticism. It obviously got out of hand. I know the new method is going to be more work for you guys, so thanks a lot.
Can we send it to any mod, or are only specific mods going to be doing powers now? Also, what about old powers?

The major concern I have is that it ISN'T fun playing with powergamers, they don't lose, they have all sorts of cheap powers, etc. etc.. I actually find it offensive when some character can just come along and steal a power I have, especially if I spent a lot of time refining it for the purposes of my character. I realize that I tend to make this into a big deal, but to me it IS a big deal because it makes this RP a lot less fun to play, sometimes downright frustrating or annoying. I realize this RP is meant to be pretty free and open, but if there are no boundaries people are bound to get out of hand. As a fairly new player, I am more than willing to concede defeat to a stronger player IF THEY DESERVE IT. If that player pulls a bunch of really cheesy moves on me, I will not back down an inch. As I always play to the best of my abilities unless my character design calls for something else, fights often become protracted and involve a good deal of OOC. Set guidelines would probably prevent this from happening. But that's just my take, anyways.

Kolov, there is no need for people to PM the mods for verifaction. The mods will always be watching and checking, therefore, they can make whatever changes they want.
It'll be a constant check instead of people having to verify. This will be a lot easier after the old forms are corrected. Having 5 moderators checking all the new forms will make this RPG fun, so that powers are fair and attuned more to the character more than actually general powers.
((Teleportation and such will be allowed.. or maybe we should ban that power.. to many people have it..))

Teleportation is one of the most useful abilities on this board, considering all of the traveling that goes on. However, I think teleportation should be limited to places that people know about. People can't just teleport anywhere they have never been, because they might teleport into solid walls, people, etc.

I like Zinn's idea. Too many people use teleportation to metagame. I have to admit I'm guilty of it from time to time, when I'm trying to get something to do.

SHUT UP!!! Teleportation should be allowed. Otherwise it would take people a d**n day to get to other places.

Yes but it should be controlled.
Teleporting with a visual effect, like a shower of stars or something. And have to take a little time so people can't teleport every few seconds to a new place, do something, and then leave again instantly.
That pisses me off like nothing else.

Also, a short delay would make teleportation less viable when dodging an attack.
