I notice that the two Leshay are here. I don't know what this means. I hope we don't have to fight them as well. I turn and see that Elijah is near us in the water.
[glow=violet,2,300]"How are you Elijah? Do you think you can keep your head above the water?"[/glow]
With all of the waves, I am getting a lot of water up my nose. It is very unpleasant.

"Oh...don't worry about me. I am just fine, Sayuka. This water doesn't bother me in the least." A wave goes over Elijah's head, drenching his hair. Some manages to get up his nose. His wings are weighed down by the water, making it hard to keep afloat. They are not like water repelant duck wings. "As long as we are stuck behind this barrier, why don't you tell me about the revolution. Tell me about what happened to the democratic socialists. You mentioned something earlier but then stopped."

[glow=violet,2,300]"You should ask Bassarov. He knows more than I do. All I remember is that they joined with the capitalists. They didn't believe in our revolution, so they helped the capitalists fight us."[/glow]

"I will ask Bassarov when I get the chance, but he is always so busy. Could you tell me why the democratic socialists fought you? Why couldn't you just get along? You are both socialists." Elijah replies. In many ways he is still naive about the world and about his politics. This is due to the fact that he spent many years with fellow angels. Politics were never brought up much there. It stunted his political growth.

[glow=violet,2,300]"It would be nice if we could get along. We are both inspired by Marx. They disagree with Marx and Engels on some issues. For one, they believe that capitalism can be reformed out of existance. This is the most major difference between us. They do not believe in the proletarian revolution!"[/glow]
I swollow some water when I make that remark.
I cough a few times and turn back to Elijah.
[glow=violet,2,300]"They reason why they fought us was simple. Instead of caring about the people, they were self interested. They fought us because we threated their power! You see, by the time of the revolution many countries had democratic socialists in their parliaments. They were more loyal to their capitalst government and more concerned about their power than the working people who sought to over throw them."[/glow]
I look back at Tsubaki.
[glow=violet,2,300]"Talk to Bassarov about this. It is a touchy subject with me. I would like socialists to get along. But it is hard. I don't agree with Bassarov on many things and I am in his movement![/glow]

"You don't agree with Bassarov? Really? Like on what issues?" This discussion is distracting Elijah enough where he no longer notices how wet and uncomfortable he is.

[glow=violet,2,300]"Many things. He and Mischa treat Trotsky and Lenin like they are gods, whose words and actions are infallible. They view the Russian revolution like it was some great holy event. They blame its flaws on capitalism rather than flaws with the Bolsheviks or with Lenin. I'm not going to get into this."[/glow]
I don't want Elijah to think that I am critical of Bassarov or the Trotskyist movement.
[glow=violet,2,300]"Before I met Bassarov and Mischa, I was in a different revolutionary socialist group. My group was the ISP or International Socialist Party. We were not members of the 4th International, we were our own international. We had some disagreements with the 4th International. Disagreements about nationalism, feminism, the Russian revolution, and some others. I won't go into it. If you want to know more, ask Bassarov. He is the political expert around here."[/glow]

"International Socialist Party? I never knew that you came from another socialist group, one that wasn't part of the 4th International. You really shouldn't say that you don't know about politics. You seem very smart to me, Sayuka. I am sure I could learn a lot from you. Just as much as I could from Bassarov, if not more." Elijah tries to say as cheerfully as he can. He was not aware that Sayuka wasn't a part of Bassarov's party. He never even thought of the many revolutionary socialist parties which were not part of the 4th International. This is something that he doesn't understand very well. It is hard for him to imagine internationals that are outside of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Internationals. But here Sayuka was a member of one such group.

[glow=violet,2,300]"During the revolution, my party joined with Bassarov's party. Most revolutionary socialist groups put their differences aside and joined together. After all, this wasn't about us or our intellectual debates. It was about real people standing up against capitalism on a large scale."[/glow]

"When did things go bad? I mean.. the revolution? How did that result in Red Infinity?"

[glow=violet,2,300]"Things during revolutionary times are hard. People get burnt out. Fighting takes a lot out of a person and changes things. Sometimes you have to make small compromises in ideologies in order to keep the revolution alive. Enough deviation, enough power hungry people... it can take something that was good and warp it into something bad."[/glow]

"If you lived through the revolution and saw what happened, why do you still believe that revolution is the only way?"

[glow=violet,2,300]"I saw what went wrong. I think we can learn from history. I also don't believe that reform is the long term solution. The only solution is putting power into the hands of the people."[/glow]
I swim over to a couch and stand on it. It makes it easier to keep my head above water.
[glow=violet,2,300]"Reform is like watching political figures play ping pong with your rights. They bounce them back and forth as it suits their power. Only when power belongs to the people, can we stop these silly games."[/glow]

"I see. Well, thanks for talking to me, Sayuka. I have a lot of things to think about right now." Elijah sees that Sayuka is now standing on a sofa. He wonders why he didn't think of that. He swims over to a chair and stands on it. It does a lot to help him stay above the water.
